Our beautiful Donauwoerth

“Bavarian-Swabian Danube pearl on the Romantic Road” is what the website of Donauwoerth says and in our opinion that completely applies to the former fishing settlement.

Where the rivers Danube and Woernitz flow together lies our beautiful city of Donauwoerth, which looks back on a glamorous and also painful past. Follow in the footsteps of Donauwoerth's 1,000-year history by bike. If you start from the bike rental Donauwoerth, it will only take you about 15 minutes to get to the old town. A variety of cultural events, the “Donauwoerth Culture Days”, museums such as the famous “Kaethe Kruse” Doll Museum and pure nature offer something worth seeing for young and old.

You can also go on great bike tours outside of Donauwoerth. You can start directly from the bike rental Donauwoerth or we will bring the bikes you rented to your desired starting point. With family, friends or as a little time out for yourself - you can enjoy a wonderful time along the Danube by bike or e-bike (Pedelec). We look forward to welcoming you to our beautiful Donauwoerth, because there is so much to discover - especially by bike.

Bike tour tips

Via Claudia Augusta

The Via Claudia Augusta cycle path stretches for around 700 kilometers. This beautiful route largely follows the historic Roman road of the same name. You can start with us in Donauwoerth, from there the cycle path leads over the Alps to Ostiglia on the Po in Italy or alternatively to Quarto d'Altino near Venice on the Adriatic.

Danube cycle path

Experience the Danube cycle path starting from Donauwoerth. The so-called stairways or towpaths, which many years ago were used by boatmen to pull their ships upriver with the help of their horses, are now well-paved cycle paths. On both sides of the Danube, this wonderful cycle path leads over several stages directly or very close to the river for many kilometers to the Danube Delta in Romania.

If you have traveled a longer distance by bike and would like to be picked up from there, we would be happy to offer you our shuttle service.
